Y'Know all these great things that folks are saying about your music is true. Think of it: none of the strangers to your site have any vested interest in making you feel good about what you've done, they just enjoy your music. And isn't that what it's all about in the end, enjoying the music? Way to go! |

I want to comment on the work as a whole rather than just one song. I have to say it is hard to pick just one song as a favorite as you capture many of my listening moods and it really just depends on what mood I'm in. But if you swaying my mood with your music means anything, I can listen to any of these songs and be affected by them! Great art and great work! |

Walkin' Blues - Time to Go |
All the music on this CD is good. To my ear some songs that stand out are, "She Don't Live Here", "If I Had a 70' Cop" and "Walking Blues". Walking Blues to me is a perfect example of the Blues in it purest form, just a singer and a guitar. This is truly a clean recording of a song with a simple message telling folks; you can't feel my pain. The song is well written, well sung, and very well played.
Take Care and keep playing

Brian,
I have to make a comment about singing vs. playing. Your singing is better than a lot of people I enjoy listening too, but I have to say that too many people that kick but on guitar sing too much. I want to hear the guitar! Singing is fine as most people like to sing along but I wish people would stick to a 80% jam and 20% sing ratio if they are good at guitar (as you most certainly are!). You sure make that Gibson sing...I'd go get one if I thought I could do that! |

Brian, Brian, Brian ....
I started playing guitar 40 years ago. I've become pretty good at it - I always come back to the blues, but i digress. One thing I've learned - the Great Unwashed don't care how well you play your instrument(s). They want to hear you sing. And I don't care how much you think you can't sing, get to it. For God's sake listen to Bob Dylan if you think that singing takes great talent. Obvoiusly it doesn't. I can tell by the way you play that you can sing or you wouldn't create the music you do if you didn't have a poet's soul; so get to it.
Entry #2 - By the way, the support that you are getting from your wife is to die for. I hope you appreciate it and give her the same.
Best of everything
Bryan

Hey Bryan & Laurey Great Job!You need to get some Ads posted on your web site and charge people for the space like guitar stores or related music sites, then you will have some $$ coming in, so it will help out the Semistixstudio.net. One last thing I liked all your songs wish I could have rated them all instead of one. Keep up the good work, you got a fan!let me know when CD #2 on its way. Keep on Jammin' later. Pete |

Bless your wife and bless you! This is Americana at it's best and your humility aside, this is pure, from the heart music that makes me smile. Perhaps because I play my songs to my wife and kids and am thinking about recording them and you have inspired me to do so...thanks Brian...and wife!
Entry #2 - Laurey, my wife and I think you did a great job on this web site and we think it is SO COOOOOOOOOL that you did this for Brian and that you want to share his music with the world. You both rock! |

Brian,
Curtis & I hunt with your Mom & Dad. We met you the last time you were in town. We just wanted to let you know what a wonderful job you have done on the CD. We listen to it all the time. I know your Dad told you that & you didn't believe him, but it is true. Curtis is so excited to have a copy of his own now. We've been wearing out your Mom's copy. Thanks for the great music and keep up the good work. Ya'll have a very Merry Christmas & we'll see ya'll the next time you're in Baton Rouge.
Congratulations!
Robin

Brian & Laurey,
I'm impressed with what you've done. I got to your site via the n-Track website, just checking out recordings before I get the program. This site is a great way of getting your music out.
Critique:
I think the weakest link in your songs is the drums... given that they were free samples then, you should see this as a compliment, I suppose. It would be well worth your time to find either a drum machine or a program that can give you better drum loops (try www.fruityloops.com - great demo that allows you to output wav files).
in your recording info, you didn't include the microphones, I don't think. That's useful information to folks that are interested in how you got such clear sounds... I would add that if I were you.
This site is great. I'll stop rambling now. (yes, I have a website for my band - www.blindslim.com). I write for Performer Magazine - may I mention this site in an article?
Entry #2 - One other thing - remove all the disclaimers that you're not a professional performer! Of COURSE you are. This recording is proof. Don't sell yourself short. Musicians all over the world would hear your recording and be impressed. A listen to the blues section at MP3.com and you'll realize what I'm talking about. |

You "rock". This CD is almost as enjoyable as hearing and seeing you "live" and jamming. We will always fondly remember the times we watched you practice and put these tunes together. Thank you for those memories. We anxiously await for your next CD We hope you make a blues/Christmas CD in the future. |

Dear Brian and Laurey, So does this mean we are all getting CD's for Christmas? That would be really cool. I had no idea. Guess I need to keep in touch. Well, I just thought I would try to check it out - I am at school and should be grading papers right now. Gotta go!!! Miss you!! Your favorite cousin, Jenay :) |

Don't you wanna know what state? Illinois. Well done site Laur...As for the music, I haven't listened to any of this yet...I did listen to something by ya, Brian, can I call ya Brian?, but it wasn't from this site..What I did hear was great...I plan on eventually sneaking a peek at these, it's just this 56k that gets me down. On a side note, Jeepers Creepers wasn't that good...But it wasn't bad, if you're thinking about seeing it, wait for it to get to the "dollar" show, or video. Kev |
